Choi Yoon-Mi

Abstract
The existential factor as an important therapeutic factor in group psychotherapy is reviewed in this research. The existential psychodynamic approaches are introduced in order to understand human nature and difficulties first, then the possibilites to apply this theory for psychodrama is discussed. Yalom suggested that the existential position emphasizes a different kind of basic conflict from Freudian, a conflict that flows from the individual`s confrontation with the givens of existence. The ultimate concern of human nature is death, freedom, isolation and meaninglessness. The existential approach is in this formula: awareness of ultimate concern¡æanxiety¡ædefense mechanism.
